Another Shutout for the T-Birds
Now they are just showing off

After half of a season without shutouts, the Seattle Thunderbirds sure know how to throw one down now. After 17 saves at the Toyota Center in Kennewick, Logan Flodell led the T-Birds in another shutout over the Tri-City Americans with a final score of 4-0. This marks the team’s eighth win in a row. The Birds continue to maintain the first place spot in the US Division, their record standing now at 40-23-3-0.

Scoring occurred during the second and third periods, with two goals during the second and two more in the third. Players Donovan Neuls, Cavin Neth, Alexander True and Andreas Schumacher all scored during the game. Assists were made by Scott Eansor, Nolan Volcan, Alexander True and Ethan Bear. This is Flodell’s third shutout, and his stats are now 21-13-3-0. Fans are saying that the team’s secret is secondary scoring, but a variety of factors may be at play.

After the Birds’ big win against Everett last week, Defenseman Cole MacDonald told the press that “we’re in a bit of a slump and we tried to get out of it. We just tried to stick to the details and get our game back. It was close tonight and we had a bunch of chances to score. We just didn’t get the luck. We had chances to score in the shootout, but that’s hockey. That’s how it goes.” Maybe the Tips are in a slump, but it could simply be that the Birds have found their footing after so many roster changes and they’re not letting go.

The Birds’ next game is against Everett again this Friday, March 11 at the ShoWare Center. Perhaps the young men will prove that they are doing more than banking in on good luck against the Tips and demonstrate that they are simply getting that good at their game. The Birds are asking that fans bring their relatives, friends, neighbors and even coworkers to the game this Friday to really bring on the support as they go head to head with the Tips. Tickets are available online as well as at the box office. Let’s fill the ShoWare Center and really give the Birds some support while they take on the Tips! Fans are calling for more media attention for the Birds as well; do you think they might perform better with a full house or even more media coverage?

Playoff dates should be announced very soon as well, so stay tuned!
