How many facts do you know about Luke Osterman, Seattle Thunderbirds player #34? You might already know that he plays right wing, and you might know that he shoots right. But did you know that his hometown is Stillwater, Minnesota? Or how about that he weighs 189 pounds? Osterman also stands at 6’.5 tall. He was born on June 20, 1997.
Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell announced that Osterman was joining the team on August 28, 2014, stating that he was given a WHL Standard Player Agreement along with four other newcomers. He was the 161st draft pick in the 2012 Bantam Draft and selected during the T-Birds 8th round of draft picks.
Before joining the Thunderbirds, Osterman played for the NAPH16 League for Omaha. His record there included six goals and seven assists, resulting in a total point value of 13. While playing for Omaha, he racked up a total of 24 penalty minutes.
Osterman has played in 50 games since signing on to play with the Thunderbirds. He has made a total of two goals during those games, as well as one assist, giving him three points overall. His PIM is 93. The majority of games that he has played were in his first year with the T-Birds during the 2014 to 2015 regular season, where he was in 45 games. His first goal in that season was scored at Regina in November. During the 2015 to 2016 season, he has played five games so far. He has not played in the playoffs as of yet. He has had 76 penalty minutes for the season.
Farwell says that Osterman is both focused and driven. After participating in the Thunderbirds’ training camp, Osterman became a forward after playing defense, a transformation that Farwell praised to the press. Farwell went on to comment on Osterman’s physical prowess, stating that he “will add grit to our team for years to come.”

Several of Osterman’s fights can be seen online, such as his scuffle with Josh Thrower of the Vancouver Giants, which occurred on October 23, 2005. Fans voted Osterman as the winner of the fight. Osterman fought against another Vancouver Giant, Dakota Odgers, on September 25, 2015 during a game, but there were not enough votes to rule a winner.
