During the 2015 off-season, Ottenbreit spent his time graduating and visiting with family and friends. He enjoyed time spent with his loved ones at the lake. He told the press that he really enjoyed his time at the Washington Capitals Development Camp, learning new skills and building upon previous ones to improve his game. Ottenbreit says that most of the learning at camp came through skill drills, speed drills and other exercises designed to help the players become more adept at the game. He was the youngest person at the camp. He also told an interviewer that while at camp, the teammates have access to not only a daily workout regimen and a nutritionist to keep them at their healthiest, but also a sports psychologist to ensure a healthy mind as well.
