If the rest of the NFL was not already scared of Seahawks strong safety Kam Chancellor, then they probably have not seen him play. If they have, and still have the gaul to say that they hold no fear whatsoever of the man, then I commend them. But for normal humans, they fear him, and their fear must enhance when they read that he has been “itching” for contact.
That is the adverb he used to describe how he has been feeling now that he is back practicing after sitting out since the beginning of camp with a groin injury. If anyone should be scared it should be Pete Carroll, has the hardest hitting man in the league is going to look to satisfy that itch to hit someone on his own offense.
“It feels great just to be back out there with my guys,” he said. “It feels good… The hardest part is just not doing it. Being on the field, I have a lot of fun out there with my guys. Showing yourself, showing what you can do, making contact, just competing, it’s fun out there with the guys. So not being out there performing, it’s hard to just watch, but you get a lot of good things from it as well like teaching the other guys and learning as you teach.”
On the offensive side of the ball, rookie running back C.J. Prosise is back on the practice field since he too went down the first week of practice with a hamstring injury.
Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell liked what he saw when he returned Monday.
The Seahawks drafted Prosise 90th overall out of Notre Dame in what many say was a steal. A converted wide receiver, he certainly has the tools to make a difference in the backfield. The only question is, how much will he even see the field if he makes the team?
Thomas Rawls is the incumbent no. 1, and Christine Michael has solidified his place as the backup, you can pencil him in for maybe 5-10 carries a game.
Therefore the question is, where does Prosise fit in? He’s got undeniable talent, but who knows what difference he can make with maybe two carries per game.
Nonetheless, he adds depth at a time when the Seahawks are the most unsure at running back since 2010 – the year Marshawn Lynch arrived. Regardless of Rawls, the fact is that we still don’t know how the position will perform over a full 16 games.
