Prediction: Seahawks, Easily

.

Dr. D is not a Seahawk expert.  Few here are.  He has, however, been watching pro sports for quite some time.  Many here have.  And therefore "Many" here will agree that when you have these two conditions together:

(1) An NFL team boasts an All-Pro at virtually every starting position

(2) The same NFL team has every beat writer wringing his hands and saying this is the year the wheels come off the locomotive

Then you can assume ONE of the following two things also:

(3) That the locker room is full of athletes who will be serving rather lengthy terms of incarceration, by the end of 2018, mostly for what they're doing to each other -OR-

(4) Your local group of beat writers is below replacement level.

Dr. D is betting (4).  Feel free to push back.

.....

My son ran into a military guy who worked for the 49'ers and was friends with Kaepernick.  He pointed out that Kaepernick began by sitting, but the military guy talked to him and the "kneeling" thing was an attempt to find middle ground.

Cast in that light, I can see a lot of places where the athletes have tried to find middle ground.  ... now, slagging our anthem and the flag, that's dumb, and it's going to cost, but is it malignantly disrespectful?  I'm rethinking.

It's very, very easy for Dr. D to forgive simple idiocy.  See if you can guess why.

.....

Here are John Clayton's 5 things to watch in Sunday's game.  Clayton points out that the G'ints have a shiny new weapon, the Joker TE attack, and adroitly points out that the Seahawks are unlikely to be as strafed by it as were the Broncos last week.

The double-TE "Joker" attack is in fact a fairly recent discovery; I think it was Joe Namath who started using Rich Caster this way in 1972.  Worked great then, too.  Worked well for Brady, two TE's, until one of them made a very poor career decision that admits to no punch line.

Probably works well in Seahawk practices when Jimmy Graham runs it against our secondary in practice every day.  But it says here some G'ints fans could be disappointed by their CLink results on Sunday.

.....

Clayton also says that Eli Manning is becoming more and more a stationary "Somebody please deliver the bulk of their CG through the middle of mine" type, and the Giants are rather desperately using a slant-pass attack to try to keep him alive.  This can work against the L.O.B. .... under the condition that .... it's not all you can do.  Some of you may have seen the 43-8 Super Bowl.

So, dunno about you, but I'm looking to get out in front by 10 and then slowly pull away.

Famous last words,

Dr D
