Coming in to Sunday night's game in Foxboro, a rematch to match the Seahawks and Patriots last meeting in Super Bowl XLIX did not seem likely. Sure, Russell Wilson was coming off a good game against Buffalo, but he was still not 100% (supposedly) and Michael Bennett was still out for Seattle.
Niether tam got the memo though, as again the game came down to the goal line with time running out. This time however, it was the Pats how couldn't complete their pass play. Kam Chancellor played as good a game as ever in his first game back since suffering a groin injury that kept him on the sidelines the past few weeks. In that last play on fourth and goal, Kam did what he had been doing all game, covering Rob Gronkowski as well as he has ever been covered in his career. Kris Richard had a great game plan for Gronk, limiting him to only three catches albeit for 56 yards. Still, Gronk never had it easy by any stretch of the imagination, repeatedly having to work and taking shots anytime he went down middle.
CJ Prosise had the best game of his young career, moving the chains on the ground and leading the team in receptions and receiving yards. While he didn't put up big rushing numbers, he consistently got positive gains and did enough to keep the Patriots' D honest. He then complimented that with a pair of catches for big yards, which is exactly why the Seahawks drafted him.
Although no one looked better that Russell. The 348 yards he threw for was the highest total he has ever posted in a regular season game and he was the offense. This was the first game all year where he seemed to be at full strength, he was able to put the ball exactly where it needed to be and finally made plays down field. While he didn't have a big rushing total, he was able to elude defenders and create, with his patented spin move away from a defender finally back in full effect.
Although his chemistry with Jermaine Kearse seemed to be off, as they both missed out on some opportunities. However as is the mantra, next man up and Doug Baldwin stepped up and was on the same page word for word with Russ. Thus the result being all three touchdown passes going to Doug E. Fresh.
The defense, although they gave up over 20 points again, did not let Tom Brady find the end zone, and did what it needed to do. Don't look know, but this could be the patented turning point of the season for Seattle.
