Sue Bird is a point guard for the Seattle Storm. Her full name is Suzanne Brigit Bird. Bird is 5’9 and weighs 150 pounds. She was born on October 16, 1980. Bird was born in Syosset, New York. She has been a pro player for 13 years.

Bird has played 413 games in her regular season career, starting in every single one of them. Her average minutes per game are 32.4. Bird has been playing for the Seattle Storm since 2002. She was the #1 pick during the 2002 WNBA Draft. As a rookie, she averaged 14.4 ppg, but she was only the runner-up for Rookie of the Year. Only two rookies made All-WNBA First Team that year and she was one of them. Even though she had an injury requiring knee surgery in 2013, she continues to be one of the strongest Seattle Storm players to date.

Bird averages 1.4 steals per game. Her blocks per game average is .1. Bird averages 5.4 assists per game, making her an instrumental player in Seattle Storm victories. Her field goal percentage is .428 and she was the league lead in free-throw percentage (.911 in 2002), assists made per game (5.9 in 2005; 5.8 in 2009) and minutes per game (35.5 in 2009). She averages 12.5 points per game.

Prior to playing for the Seattle Storm, she played for Dynamo Moscow from 2004 to 2006. From 2006 to 2011, she played for the Spartak Moscow Region. In addition to the Storm, Bird continues to play for UMMC Ekaterinburg.

Bird has a huge list of accomplishments in her career. Some of her notable honors include being a two-time WNBA champion in 2004 and 2010, making the WNBA All-Decade Team, a four-time All-WNBA First Team, a three-time WNBA Second Team and a nine-time WNBA All-Star.  Some of her medals include gold for the Jones Cup (Taiwan, 2000), gold in the Olympic Games (Athens, 2004; Beijing, 2008; and London, 2012) and a three-time gold winner of the FIBA World Championship for Women (China, 2002; Czech Republic, 2010; and Turkey, 2014) as well as a bronze winner of the FIBA World Championship for Women (Brazil, 2006).

Bird is a three-time winner of the Nancy Lieberman Award, the Honda Sports Award for Basketball, 2009 Most Valuable Point Guard and MVP Russian Cup Finals. As a youth, she also played tennis and soccer. She also ran track as a teen.
