Rumors are swirling around Barcelona players both current and old, with one of the latter rumored to headed to their rivals in the Spanish capital.
Barcelona goal keeper Claudio Bravo has his bags all but packed, prepping to move to Northern England to play for former Barça manager Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. Current Barcelona manager Luis Enrique has been using a goalie rotation between Bravo and the Catalan's other keeper Marc Andre ter Stegen. Bravo has featured mostly in Barcelona's domestic matches, while the German ter Stegen patrols goal for their Champions League and Copa del Rey tournaments. The set up is similar to a couple years ago when Real Madrid rotated between Iker Casillas and Diego Lopez.
Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez even came out and said that Bravo could leave as early as next week. He did say Bravo will not leave ahead of Bracelona La Liga opener against Real Betis, especially with ter Stegen injured. Brazilian Diego Alves from Valencia is rumored to come to Catalonia once the Chilean Bravo moves to Manchester.
Speaking of Valencia, their top striker, Paco Alcacer could be headed to Barcelona to become their fourth striker. Enrique is supposedly looking for more depth along the attacking line, and Alcacer is is pegged as their top target.
An obstacle however, is Alcacer's 80 million EUR release clause. Although many in the media are reporting that 30 million plus Munir El Haddadi will appease those at La Mastalla.
Real Madrid hasn't stayed quite in the rumor mill either, though the rumors they're linked to are less likely. But former Barcelona player Cesc Fabregas is rumored to be in the sights of los blancos, even though manager Zinedine Zidane all but dismissed the notion, saying that he already has too many players that will miss out on minutes.
And the Frenchman is right, adding another central midfielder will only complicate his life, especially since he proclaimed that Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez will stay at the Bernabeu this year.
Fabregas has seen his playing time slip at Chelsea, and it doesn't look like he figures into new manager Antonion Conte's plans as he has not regularly featured in many matches thus far. Really this has been the trend ever since Fabregas left Arsenal for Barcelona. With Xavi and Andres Iniesta ahead of him, he played less than he was used to, the price he paid for coming to his hometown club.
