Ichiro has defined a generation, but Ackley hits precisely as Ichiro would, if Ichiro wrapped his bat around his head to point at the shortstop.*  We would be derelict if we didn't acknowledge the reality that as great as Ichiro has been, Ackley is Ichiro Squared.  He does what Ichiro does, with much less reaction time.

Scouts have a HIT skill and a PWR skill.  It's kind of a shame there isn't just a BAT skill.  Dustin Ackley has as much sheer talent for that as anybody you'll ever see play the game.

Nick Franklin, and Justin Smoak, also have the BAT skill.  Not sure why Smoak adapts to unfamiliar circumstances with such fragility, but am convinced that one of these days he's going to have some Justin Morneau seasons.
