Kolesar is very excited about playing for the Blue Jackets. He told the press that he was not at the event and learned about his draft selection both via television as well as the numerous texts he received. He also revealed that he was “speechless” and “can’t find the words to describe” how he feels.
Thunderbirds head coach Steve Konowalchuk says that Kolesar has everything he needs to be an excellent NFL player, and that “he brings things that not a lot of players can.” He says that Kolesar has a combination of power and precision playing that makes him an asset to the team. The honing of these skills occurred during his time with the Thunderbirds. Fans can recall that at 16, Kolesar was rougher around the edges, requiring more training. Since then, he has proven himself ready to join the big leagues. Not only has he slimmed down and become a better skater, but he has also developed a skillful technique that made the NHL take notice.
