Ha, that is cute. I saw the T-Birds doing the same.
All over social media, various sports teams are celebrating National Hug Day with photos of their athletes giving in to huddles, embraces and big bear hugs. Fans, too, are sharing their favorite huggable moments and favorite photos, either of themselves with players or of players posing together with their teams. The Seattle Storm is no different, and the team shared one of their most famous embraces on Facebook today: a big hug between Lauren Jackson and a grinning Sue Bird. The page even used the hash tag #NationalHugDay.
Fans went gaga over the share, lauding the pair as the best basketball duo of all time. Fans also said how much they miss Jackson. Since Jackson is contracted to play for an Australian team for at least three years, fans are doubtful that she will return to the Storm. What do you think? Will she ever be back?
Most fans agree that even once Bird isn’t playing for the Seattle Storm anymore, she will still be around as some kind of presence with the team. Whether that presence exists as a coaching gig, an announcer position or something else, we will just have to wait and find out what Bird herself decides to do.
Did any other Storm players leave fun hug pictures online for us to see? Abby Bishop, who hugs her daughter on her Twitter profile, says today, “A wise person knows there is something to be learned from everyone.” Alysha Clark gave herself a self-love hug with a 30-day water cleanse, which she began today. Quanitra Hollingsworth always gives the community her hugs through her work in the organization she founded, the Aturb3st Foundation.
While Crystal Langhorne did not share a hug, she did share a fun Instagram photo of herself with the caption, “Slovakian life.” Ramu Tokashiki did not have a hug to share, but she did share some fun videos and photos for fans to enjoy today. And although Jewell Loyd did not share a hug, she did share plenty of fun one-liners from her friends, which she usually does on Twitter. It seems that the Storm women get more into National Bird Day than National Hug Day—but with Sue Bird on the team, who can blame them?
