Husky fans are gearing up to experience a homecoming Montlake probably has not seen in at least 24 years, with the team riding a wave of momentum after knocking off then no. 7 Stanford and hanging 70 on the rival Oregon Ducks at Autzen Stadium. 

24 years because this Husky team, ranked fifth in the country, are off to their best start since 1992. They are more than living up to the preseason hype, and to say many saw this level of play from them would have to be crazy. We knew the defense would be a strength, we knew Jake Browning would take a step forward in his development, but to be the College Football Playoff conversation seems like a bit more than anyone expected coming into the year.

As of today, the Huskies lead the collegiate football world in completion percentage, sacks per game and turnover margin among other team statistics. What's more, they have thrown the second fewest interceptions, fewest total turnovers and lead the country in interceptions with 17. They are truly firing on all cylinders.

They're winning by nearly 35 points every game, and only Michigan and Ohio State have larger margins of victory. This Saturday, they enter their match up with Oregon State as more than a 30 point favorite, with some lines reaching the high 30's. Not that they need to look at the line to like the match up, as UW has won 30 of its last 39 meetings with Oregon State.

The hype machine certainly has not slowed even with a bye week depriving us fans of watching this finely tuned orchestra of a football team work its magic. They are riding a nine game winning streak, good for the longest in the country along with Central Michigan, and it doesn't look like it will end anytime soon.

Supposedly, Washington has gotten through the toughest part of its schedule. However the Utah Utes are still waiting for Chris Petersen and company to pay them a visit, and they won't be the most welcoming of hosts, ranking be damned. The Utes have not lost at home this year, and are the only ranked opponent left on the Husky schedule.

Not to mention, right away traveling to Salt Lake, the Huskies have to go to Berkeley and beat Cal. Cal has been inconsistent this season, but are the only team to beat Utah this year.

Therefore, the Huskies still aren't done, even if most say that their schedule is softer than anything else.
