Okay, can breathe a sigh. I didn't want to be saying something until it happened so.....Jeremy just signed. Long day with physicals. He had been at their Training Facility since 6am but just signed right before the Chick fila closed....he is now a professional baseball player!
He gets [xyz] for a signing bonus in part in 60 as has to go through commissioner's office and then second payment next year. This comes with separate reimbursement for him giving up the scholarship at Bradley. He will have approximately [90%] put into an escrow account for education only in the future. Coming from small town, basically a home schooler and then a small junior college, that is beyond what we could have thought.
Here is another write up in our big city paper! He is on the first page and then 2b.
Appreciate you guys!!!
Jeff

If you missed it in the Shout Box, the Royals scouts had been very reassuring. They say they'll wait as long as it takes, and they'll get everything out of Gwinn that's in there. If I were a young athlete and I heard that ...
They Royals see Gwinn as a very hard thrower by the time they're done with him. Sky's the limit.
....
We'll let Jeff chat with you about the bonus if he's so inclined. Better than I thought twelfth-round money was, can definitely say that :- ) We're guessing Daddy and Mommy were in the escrow office with the lad. Lot of signatures at the yellow tabs, eh, and try not to grin too broadly while you're at it Jeremy. Remember, it's not too long before you sit down to the one that has eleventy-nine zeroes on it ...
It's a cool article, the one Jeff links us to. Very tight. :- ) The reporter has it that one week ago, Jeremy was starry-eyed at trying on a Royals uniform for a back-field tryout ... next week, bam, phone call and you're a 12th-rounder!
Then into the escrow office to hear the sweet sound of ka-ching, and it's on to the long grind of physicals, logistics, moving in with a bunch of great athletes, and ...
Pro baseball player. Guess when Jeff and 9-year-old Jeremy headed down to the local ballfield to step onto the rubber, they meant it.
Warmly,
Dr D
