1.  This wasn't a rebuttal.  ;- )  It was a 'think tank' type development of a valuable kibitz.
2.  It IS better to use Farquhar in the 9th.  (And it's often good to use your closer when BEHIND by one run.)  If you're talking about a one-game outcome.
3.  There are compelling long-term reasons that MAY override the short-term gains of using a $10M closer in erratic circumstances.  These long-term arguments dominate front-office thinking, although I don't know that I buy them.
4.  It's weird that Farquhar should be viewed as a $10M closer.
