1) Price will be too high for a guy who is likely to age-out as Doc notes
2) He's a whiff-o-matic air conditioner. Our line-up is already chock full of those. There is a critical mass point at which a tream strikes out too much to hit good pitching well...you need a variety of approaches to defend yourself against Yu Darvish and Brett Anderson and CC Sabathia and Justin Verlander and CJ Wilson etc (in case you failed to notice...the AL is now RIDICULOUSLY pitching rich compared to the NL).
The Mariners have these guys who K a ton:

Liddi
Thames
maybe Olivo
And they have these other guys who K a bit less but still a lot and have bad K/BBs

Wells
