Wrong type of swinging?  Drats!  He's not Louie Prima, for sure.

Didn't we all think that THe Bartender's natural role was a swinger?  Well, Bass looks like he's ready-willing-able to swing and sway for us.

The Change/Splitter worries me some:  First of all it seems to float and it doesn't have that much velocity delta from the FB's.  That's a pitch that could get creamed on a fairly regular basis.  If he uses it sparingly, or fixes it, then he's got a decent load of ammo to run down the gun.

If he keeps his BB's down, and keeps it in the park (which it looks like he did in Texas, of all places), then he's usable and keeps your bullpen from getting worn out.  In '15 he threw in back-to-back games a bunch of times and once threw in 3 games over 4 days.  He's a bit rubber-armed....and (as you said) can go 3+ innings if needed.

Hey, those guys don't run 125 ERA+'s.  Nor do you expect them to.  His role is to eat innings if Karns et al gets an early exit, and to keep us hanging around so Seager can go Superman in the 9th.

For this, it appears he will do.
