Actually (it was the TNT, and I just read it 10 minutes ago), Servais said that they had discussed the possibility and backed away from it because they wanted the loser of the competition to be built up pitch-count-wise in case of injury. My opinion is that the 3-year outlook for the SP is much more vital than that for the 'pen. I want both of them to be built up, innings-wise, for next year and beyond. I'd like to see Karns log 180 IP and Paxton 160+ this year. They'll both be in the rotation next year, barring injury. JeDi proved in '14 that he can pull a midseason BP rabbit out of his hat if necessary. I am still ticked off and shocked about that. They were circling the drain!
