He just won the last two games for us :)
Home run and a CLUUUUTCH double to tie the game and get a man in scoring position with no outs, today. Along with his GWRBI last night, and nice CF D.
BTW his OPS is only a paltry 1.355... Come on kid STEP IT UP, Cano is at 1.7 and Smitty is at 2.0!
I was listening to the game on the radio last night, and that is when I heard Rizz, or it was actually probably Goldsmith go into his amp up the voice for impending doom routine, and then have to sheepishly ramp it back down as Martin made a routine play out of it... not just that he made a spectacular play on it, that it became routine so he couldn't keep his call amped. The crowd noice was also indicative, a loud cheers and ohs and ahs followed by a groan as Martin chased it down easily.
None of the plays will make sports center and none of them looked amazing, and that is precisely the point. That same ball that Brad miller makes look like a routine double that rolls to the wall, Martin (and F-Gutz back in the day) SETTLE under and make look like a routine out... I am sure most of the audible glitch was just our announcers getting used to announcing a proficient CFer again. For the last few years it has been an adventure out there :)
Even Austin Jackson, while a fine defensive outfielder, made plays with sheer athleticism, so the plays looked difficult and the voice could stay amped, where as Martin and Gutz do it with ultra instnictive first steps and perfect routes... so it seems too easy...
