On August 14th and 25th in '15 Montgomery threw a total of 3.2 innings and gave up 17 hits and 14 earned runs.  Those were two of his last three starts.  If he had shut down on August 13th, he would have finished the year with an ERA about 3.30.

It seems we best remember this finish and not his start.

On July 27nd August 1st, in late-year back-to-back starts, he threw 12.2 innings, allowing 9 hits and 3 ER's.  He was fine, but not great, until his last three starts.  He wasn't the guy who blitzed the league for a while....but that guy is  actually named Kershaw and Montgomery was just imitating him.

But he's good, as Doc has pointed out.  And he's best when he's simple and goes after hitters with his quality stuff.  Karms and Paxton, too.

I hope they are all watching each other.....and talking some in the clubhouse.  Mel Jr., are you listening?

Mongomery AND O'Neill for Teheran?  No thanks.
