discussion from last year. I'm in the same position of not seeing the fit for this older guy due to youth that we already have at positions he can play. Defense is potentially more of a concern this time around, but I'll admit Lee fit in better than I expected.
Right now Cruz is so essential as the one strong RH bat in the MOTO. If Cruz slips we may be in trouble. Trumbo being here on an overlapping contract could also mean you're not scrambling after Nelson's contract is up. But carrying both for 2 years simply for that reason seems strange. If he can be fit in at 1b/DH/with limited RF...why was Valencia brought in? Would you rather have Trumbo over him? Over Smith? I would say yes for sure over Smith, considering the rest of the roster. Valencia could potentially coexist anyway, just need a shoehorn for that end of the roster again.
