If you want to run him out there on opening night for purposes of a warm, fuzzy feeling inside, I'm good with that. Chances are neither he nor Heredia is going to do much against Kluber.
But after that...I don't see the point. If you look at it from a platoon standpoint, it's a non-starter. Last year Ichiro was >100 points better in both BA and OBP against lefties than righties. So he gives you no advantage.
You want to believe Vog's spring training stats? (so do I). Ichiro did not get a hit. Hobbled to the plate ten total times.
Heredia is now at least twice as good in the outfield.
And most of all, Ichiro is 44 years old.
Why would he get regular playing time over a guy we need to see perform at an MLB level? Sitting Heredia is worse than sitting Vogs.
